Sports Week 2023!
Next week is Hillmorton Primary School’s Sports week 2023! It will be an amazing week with lots of activities to do using loads of equipment like bean bags, hoops, tennis balls and javelins! There will also be some special visitors teaching different sports to different year groups. Maybe the famous Mrs Firkins Foghorn will make a comeback!
Sports day will be on Tuesday in the morning for KS1 and in the afternoon for KS2. Here are the races and events on the day:
- relay race
- egg and spoon race
- Throwing activities – Bean bags!
- Sponge relay! (Try not to -but prepare to get wet!)
- Cups of water
- Javelin
- Kick flick race
- Standing jump
If you are wondering what some of the activities are – here is an explanation!
Kick Flick Race
For the kick flick race the first child will have a beanbag that they place on one end of a board. Then that person who place it down is going to stamp their foot on the other end of the board, then whoever has the furthest bean bag is the winner!
Cups of Water
For this event we will need tape measures to see who wins. In this event children take turns to fill a cup with water and run it to an empty bucket. Then they pour that water into the empty bucket and run to the back of their line. Then the next person will do the same. The team with the most water in the empty bucket will win at the end of the timer.
Wet Sponges
For this event you will have a full bucket of water and an empty bucket of water at the end of your line. Each team needs to pass a wet sponge along and the person at the end of the line will squeeze the sponge into the empty bucket of water. The winning team is the one with the most water at the end of the timer!
Hope you enjoy Sports Week 2023!
